The BridgePreserving existing sites, which reflect our Heritage or form part of our local history is an important feature of the work of Bruff Heritage Group.
In 2010, a member of the public in Bruff, noticed that the stonework on the Bridge, situated on the Ballygrennan Road was becoming loose and uneven. He contacted Bruff Heritage Group to express his concern. Members from the Group visited the site and closer inspection revealed that not alone was the wall becoming uneven but that the base of the wall was actually coming apart from the footpath. Members of Bruff Heritage Group identified the source of the problem as young trees which had begun to grow out from the inner side of the wall, over the river. Bruff Heritage Group contacted Limerick County Council who acted swiftly and within days a Tree Specialist Contractor was on site to remove the trees and thus ensuring that one of Bruffs greatest features would be maintained.
