Photographic Exhibition 2011

The beginning of 2011 was marked with a trip down memory lane by Bruff Heritage Group with their Photographic Exhibition. Following on from their very successful previous exhibition and in response to the huge public demand, the task of repeating their success was always going to be challenge.

The exhibition was held on the 1st and 2nd of January and from the moment the doors opened, it was clear to the organisers that on this occasion, the group had surpassed even their own expectations. As the crowds grew larger, it was clear that history was to repeat itself and the exhibition would have to remain open for another date. Sunday 9th of January saw people gathered outside the exhibition, even before it opened. Some who had viewed it the weekend before came again to view it, other travelled long distances in bad weather conditions. As well as taking a trip down memory lane, it also gave people the opportunity to meet old acquaintances and indeed for some it meant meeting old school pals after many years.

Photographs for this exhibition were gathered literally from all over the world, coming in via the website and through email. Over 550 photos went on display, varying in topics from old school classes, festivals and scenes of Bruff that has changed down through the years. For some it brought back fond memories, for others it was sad to see photos of friends and family no longer with us, but for everyone, it meant remembering the past and ensuring that those memories would be preserved for many years to come.
